چکیده
A study was conducted to find out the Non-starch polysaccharides (NSP) in terms of cellulose, hemicellulose, Neutral Detergent Fibre (NDF), Acid Detergent Fibre (ADF) and phytate phosphorus content of locally available poultry feed ingredients in and around Namakkal area. The mean NDF (%) of feed ingredients varied from 9.55 in maize and 11.64 in soyabean meal (SBM) to 45.88 in sunflower meal (SFM) and 53.54 in deoiled rice bran (DORB). While the ADF (%) content was higher in SFM (33.08) and DORB (24.06), it was lower in others. SFM contained highest cellulose content of 21.85 %. The mean NDF and ADF contents of broiler starter and finisher diets were 16 and 2 % respectively. The mean hemicellulose content of broiler starter and finisher diets were 13.59 % and 14.24 % respectively. The mean phytate phosphorus content of DORB was 1.39 % while that of SFM was 0.73 %. *Part of M.V.Sc thesis of the first author submitted to Tamilnadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Chennai-51. 1Asst Professor, University Research Farm, 2Professor and Head, Dept of Animal Nutrition, 3Associate Professor, 4Professor and Head, AFAQCL, 5 Dean, VCRI, Namakkal, 6Asst Professor, DEE.

Evaluation of near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS) techniques for total and phytate phosphorus of common poultry feed ingredients.
The purpose of this study was to determine the feasibility of estimating the total and phytate P content of common poultry feed ingredients by near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS). Samples of 8 plant-origin feedstuffs were collected from poultry producers in the USA and Canada during the summer of 2009: corn (133), soybean meal (114), corn distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS; 8...
متن کاملBroiler Performance in Response to Phytate and Supplemented Phytase
Phosphorus (P) is a macro mineral in broiler nutrition. In growing broilers, besides its requirement for proper bone development, it is also involved in almost all metabolic processes. Poor P availability results in decreased productivity and poor health status.Phosphorus availability from plant derived feeds is affected by an anti-nutritional factor “phytate”, which forms a variety of insolubl...
متن کاملPractical Application of Enzyme Supplementation in Swine
Introduction Application of enzymes to improve nutrients digestibility of plant-based feed ingredients for swine and poultry has now been studies for decades. Initially, the main focus was phytase to break down the phytate molecule and release the attached phosphorus molecules. In the last two decades, enzymes to assist digesting NSP were developed, tested, and commercialized. In the meantime, ...
متن کاملThe Effect of Phytase Enzyme on the Performance of Broiler Flock (A-Review)
From the last few years, the inclusion of microbial phytase in poultry diets has increased significantly, mainly in response to heightened concerns over phosphorus pollution of the environment and as cheaper means to make phosphorus available to birds from phytate. Phytate is the major form of phosphorus, abundantly found in cereal grains, beans and oilseed meals used in poultry diet but the mo...
متن کاملThe influence of enzymatic pre-treatment of corn or soybean meal on their phytate content under different in vitro conditions
BACKGROUND: Phosphorous is one of the expensive nutrients in poultry feed. Therefore, improving the bioavailability of this nutrient in feed ingredients could be effective for lowering the cost of feed. OBJECTIVE: This study was performed to evaluate the effect of pre-treatment of feed ingredients by commercial enzymes and different levels of pH on releasing of phosphorus from phytate under in ...
